Excavation Manual

We are happy to announce the publication of our excavation manual. The manual is an educational and information document for anyone who plans to excavate, undertake any project that requires breaking the earth's surface or demolition activities.

The information in the manual is designed as a reference tool for any person who engages in excavation in Alabama and a guide to contacting Alabama 811. It is also intended to help member underground facility owners who respond to information provided to them by Alabama 811.

The excavation manual outlines the following:

• The benefits of digging safely
• Proper notification procedures
• Specific information needed for notification
• Facility owner and excavator responsibilities
• Safe digging tips
• A reproduction of the Alabama Underground Damage Prevention Act 94-487 is also included in this manual
