RP 1162 PUBLIC AWARENESS AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS

The Department of Pipeline Safety passed a new regulation, known as RP 1162, to enhance the public awareness and education programs pertaining to gas distribution and pipeline safety. Alabama One Call is working with our member companies to assist them in meeting these requirements on a cooperative basis.

The main emphasis of RP 1162 is to increase the awareness of the existence of underground gas related facilities to the general public, customers, excavators, first responders and public officials.  Each of these target audiences have specific minimal notification requirements.  Alabama One Call is committed to helping those participating companies to meet these requirements in an effective and cost efficient manner. While, in addition, improving the awareness and educational level of those living and working near our vital underground facilities.
